Operator Profile: Stephan Burchardt

We caught up with German cinematographer, Stephan Burchardt, to hear a little bit about his experience using Inertia Wheels on his latest project—a six-part crime drama for Netflix Germany entitled, Totenfrau.

Check out what he had to say about the operating experience:

“I really loved working with NODO's Inertia Wheels during my shoot of NETFLIX’s series Totenfrau. It is one of the best wheel setups I have used in a very long time for many different gimbals and remote heads. It was a real time-saver during my shoot. I love the built-in effects, which made it possible to shoot short sequences “handheld” while keeping the wheels mounted on a jib or crane.

The weight of the wheels is so comfortable. They felt well aligned and good in my hands. I used them almost the entire shoot, and it was a great operating experience. I love that I can save specific setups to reuse for certain situations. Last but not least, you can really take the wheels everywhere. No matter how extreme the weather is—from on top of a 3.500m glacier in winter with snow and wind to heavy rain in the valley, or crowded, hot rooms during summer in the city—the Inertia Wheels were super reliable and worked at all times. I'm looking forward to using them for my next series with Disney.”
