Open API

When we created the Inertia Wheels, we imagined limitless use cases and applications. We’ve always wanted to give developers the tools they need to quickly and easily integrate the wheels into their application. And we’re committed to more than just panning and tilting, our powerful long range wireless, powerful dashboard, and variable mass/drag provide a platform for your use that can extend the usability and creativity of your product.

Embedded API

Product integration.

If you develop for a remote head or gimbal, you can quickly and easily integrate the Inertia Wheels for precise, low-latency, robust control of your product.

Camera Control

Take advantage of our entire camera control algorithms. Pan, tilt, roll, focus, iris, zoom, soft limits, shake and more all pass through the API to your application. We’ve taken the time to develop a world class camera controller and will continue to build out it’s features. By integrating the Inertia Wheels, you can focus on your product, and we will continue to improve what the Inertia Wheel’s have to offer.

Custom product interface

The Inertia Wheel’s powerful dashboard allows users to control a mired of functions beyond just panning and tilt with the wheels. Four custom user buttons and two knobs, and a visual GUI extend control. With the API, you can take control over this interface for your application. Control system settings, or other adjustable use parameters.

C++ Library

We’ve already developed a lightweight C++ library for embedded processors and included an Arduino example. It leverages the full power of the API to both get data from the wheels and send control information to build out a custom interface for the user.

Desktop Applications

Virtual production.

We understand the needs of virtual production. You can put down your soldering gun and motion tracking markers, the Inertia Wheels were developed with you in mind. If you have a USB cable, you’re ready.

Plug and Play OSC

We have developed a simple, lightweight desktop app for Mac and Windows to re-format and forward pan, tilt, roll, focus, iris zoom data from the wheels, wherever you want on your network with OSC. You can have wheel data inside of your virtual production environment without writing a single line of code.

Serial Data

The Inertia Wheels output a simple byte packet over its USB Serial interface. Inside of that packet you’ll find all the data you need for the wheels. If you’re familiar with serial data, integration is quick.

Python

The IW-OSC app is open-source python app. Take a look at its source code and you can start to see just how easy it is to parse the data and send it where it matters most in your application.

In stock and shipping

Integrate now.

As of firmware V0.3.1, our API is officially out in the wild, and the Inertia Wheels are in stock and shipping. We are here to support you as you start integrating.
